Time to start getting this thing back in line. I understand most of the trail running community that used to be on here has now departed for more tech-savy waters but I like the format of this blog so I think I will not be leaving.
After 2 months of CrossFit I feel pretty strong again and have no back pain so I need to start slowly working back into the miles. I talked to the traininer at the gym I go to and he suggested that I start slow and give my body time to adapt. Seems obvious enough. I decided that today was the day to start but I couldn't really go for a run since my wife was working and no one was around to help with child care. As a result, I ran on the treadmill in my garage.
My plan is to run 3 miles a day for this week and see how my body feels. After that I may increase to 4 miles a day across the board or I may just bump up milage a few days a week. Based on how I feel I will proceed from there.
Today I did 3 miles but I had hard time just running 3 miles at a slower pace. I guess that's what a few months of high intensity crossfit will do for you. So I did 1/2 mile warm up then 1 minute at 7:30 per mile and 1 minute at 10:00 mile for 2.5 miles, then 1/2 mile cooldown. Finished the 3 in 25 minutes and didn't even feel exhausted. It's going to be hard to keep the miles low but I think I have to build slowly if I'm going to avoid injury.
